William Evans




Pianist and composer William Evans is a unique voice coming onto the New York scene. Evans has made a name for himself as both a bandleader and a sideman, appearing across the city at venues including Dizzy’s Club, The Jazz Gallery, Carnegie Hall, Birdland, The Django, 55 Bar, and others. 


From Providence, Rhode Island, Evans began playing professionally in high school, during which he won honors including 1st place in the 2016 Rhode Island All State competition and the George Wein Jazz Ambassador Award from the Newport Jazz Festival. He completed his undergraduate degree with highest honors at Brown University while studying with Ed Tomassi and Hal Crook, and a master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music in the studios of Phil Markowitz and Jeremy Manasia. Evans has had the honor of sharing the stage with such distinguished musicians as Jimmy Heath, Ingrid Jensen, Darcy James Argue, Dick Oatts, Matt Wilson, Wallace Roney, Don Braden, Avery Sharpe, Jack Walrath, Fima Ephron, Luques Curtis and Albert Rivera. Evans is a proud member of the faculty at the Litchfield Jazz Camp and Brooklyn Youth Chorus.


In addition to performing, Evans maintains a vital teaching studio. He additionally is on faculty at Renaissance Youth Center in the Bronx, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and Larchmont Music Academy. He gives regular lectures through the Orto Center at the Manhattan School of Music. He has also been a Teaching Artist at the Litchfield Jazz Camp since 2022.
